Adam's Engagement Promise
"I want to live the rest of my life with you because you get me, you understand me, you respect me and you love me. I have never before experienced such unconditional love from anybody. Your love motivates me to want to be a better man, a better follower of Jesus Christ.

"I admire the fact that you are so confident of your need for God, your embrace of a theology where black is black and white is white, your desire to make a difference in the lives around us.

"I was especially thrilled to see your positive reaction to my articulation of a vision of ministry together - sinking down roots into a church with an emphasis on ministry, leading a Truth Project Bible study.

"I love our connection as a couple, our similar sense of humor, our delight in talking about everything together - big and small. You are a beautiful woman - inside and out - a woman of noble character as Ruth 3:11 says.

"God can make you pure again Peeps - or should I say - 'Lazarus 2' - so that we might enjoy the gift of our future sexual relationship together. I am a more confident man with you - my future bride - by my side. I feel like a man as God meant me to be with you in my life.

"Psalm 145:13b says, 'The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.'

"God said in Genesis 2:18 that it is not good for man to be alone. He promised me a wife - for companionship and procreation (helloooo how are ya) - and He has delivered on that promise in you Peeps! He has demonstrated in a clear, undeniable way that He indeed is loving toward all He has made.

"Remember good ole Abraham. 'By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went even though he did not know where he was going.'

"We might not know precisely where we are going, but I am absolutely confident that I want to take the exciting and thrilling journey with you, my bride, by my side. ~ Love, Adam"

Amy's Engagement Promise
"Dear Adam,

"I love you and await our marriage and wedding day with more excitement, more certainty and more security after this Engaged Encounter weekend.

"I am excited because of our shared vision of ministry. I have always envisioned us leading Bible studies, teaching and ministering together. When Doug Phillips of Vision Forum spoke over us, stating the importance of vision, my heart stirred with excitement of all the possibilities for our future.

"I love you for your vision. I have always found that so attractive. God has given all of us vision greater than ourselves as Christians, but few people, men in particular, grab hold of that. Not you Adam Joseph McManus! You can't grab hold of it fast enough! Or with greater passion. I want to be a part of something greater than myself, and with you, I am.

"I love you because of the security you give me. Opening up to you this weekend and writing my fears to you was not easy. But your love for me is like the ocean tide, and seems to wash my fears away, cleaning and purifying me as it continues to roll.

"Your love for me gives me certainty. As in a dream I had, the ocean waves would crash into the shore, and then subside. In the midst of the foam, there was a beautiful flower, full of color, fully blossomed. I feel like that flower with you. I'm able to blossom with your love Peeps!!

"With excitement, certainty and security, your pre-wife ~ Amy"

Hot feet for the wedding
Someone asked me recently whether I was getting cold feet yet. I laughed out loud. Hardly. I kissed the days of cold feet goodbye on Christmas Day, 2005. If anything, I've got "hot feet." This 40-year-old has waited long enough!

So now that Amy and I have been vulnerable with you -- sharing the ups and downs of our relationship -- we're curious about your reaction. If anything in our love story struck a cord with you, please write us. We'd love to hear from you.

And feel free to send a congratulatory e-mail through "Our Journal" page.

The Guest of Honor
I interviewed Eric and Leslie Ludy, authors of "A Perfect Wedding: Inviting the Author of Romance to Make Your Day Beautiful."

In fact, you can listen to my interview of them, by clicking here.

Eric and Leslie get it. For all of the emphasis the world puts on the day of the wedding, they put those precious hours into proper perspective.

"God loves wedding days. He designed them to be a picture of heaven on earth. He invented them to be a foretaste of something far bigger than bride and groom, far more than cake and flowers. He created weddings to be a demonstration of who He is. So allow God to show you how breathtakingly beautiful your wedding day can be when the Author of lasting love becomes the Guest of Honor."

Aaaamen!
